There’s something for everyone to do at Second Valley including swimming at a Top 10 Australian beach, great fishing, bush walking, fine dining, gallery, scuba diving, summer community markets or you can just relax and enjoy the tranquil rural setting.

Second Valley Heritage Trail

The trail is a self-guided trail opened by the Governor of South Australia in 2016 as part of History Month and is a winner of a High Commendation at the 2016 KESAB Sustainable Communities Award for Heritage and Culture.

Scuba Diving

Scuba diving is popular on Lassiters Reef and the Bays, a 50m diameter dome shaped reef in 8m of water. There is a surprising variety of sea life and residents include the leafy sea dragon. Access is by a long swim from the beach at Second Valley or by boat from Sunset Cove boat ramp.

On the southern side of the jetty are 3 small bays. A shore dive, entry can be made by walking around to the second bay. South of this bay and cut into the cliff face are 3 small caves including a swim through with a right angle in it.

Ex-HMAS Hobart

Only 11 kilometres from the Park, the ex HMAS Hobart was a Charles F. Adams class guided missile destroyer in the Royal Australia Navy (DDG 39), built in the United States of America and commissioned in 1965 in Boston.

The Hobart was sunk in November 2002 as an artificial reef and lies in 30 metres of water approximately 4 kms off Rapid Bay. Access is by boat from Sunset Cove boat ramp and a permit system applies.

Deep Creek Conservation Park

Only 15km from the Park, the 15 walking trails in the park provide spectacular scenery of Backstairs Passage, Kangaroo Island and the rugged Deep Creek Valley.

The walks range from easy to very difficult so accommodating for all ages and abilities. The walking trail network in Deep Creek Conservation Park includes sections of the famous Heysen Trail.

Second Valley Community Market

Only 2kms from the Park, the Second Valley Community Market showcasing locally grown, locally produced and locally made fruits, vegetables, artwork and craft. Held at the Second Valley Hall on Saturdays of long weekends. Check Jetty Store for dates.

Lady Bay Vineyard

Only 14 kilometres from the Park, you will find a boutique producer of limited quantity, single vineyard wines and long term supplier of a-grade shiraz and cabernet sauvignon to Penfold’s. Located back towards Normanville.

Wirrina Marina & Golf Course

Only 6km from the Park, you will locate a sensational 18-hole PGA Standard course that offers spectacular golf with a bonus – majestic views over Gulf St Vincent and South Australia’s rich countryside. In the 1990s, the course was completely redeveloped, with three million dollars being spent.

Today, it’s one of the finest resort courses in South Australia, and one of Australia’s Top 50. Wirrina Cove Golf Course has been designed for a wide range of handicaps, not just for the top players.

Motorised golf carts, golf clubs and hand trolleys are available and the proshop’s fully stocked with the latest in clothing and golfing accessories.
And then, of course, there’s the 19th hole, a comfortable club lounge bar plus a patio area that’s just perfect for those balmy summer evenings.

Kangaroo Island

If you’re heading to Kangaroo Island, Second Valley makes a great stop over on the way, or a relaxing place to unwind on the return trip!

Travel Directions

Less than 90 minutes from Adelaide’s CBD, just follow Main South Road through the picturesque rolling hills and coastline, past Aldinga, through Myponga and Yankallila until you reach the hamlet of Second Valley.

Follow the sign “To The Beach” along Finniss Vale Drive for 2.5 km and you will see our Reception at the Jetty Store.

Parking

Free parking for one vehicle per site is included in the rate. Cabins include free parking right next to your verandah. Overflow parking is available adjacent to the park on Finniss Vale Drive under the pines.
